LEV awareness training

LEV awareness is set to become a key area of health and safety in the workplace and Workforce First is here to help you be ready for it.

We offer training courses tailored to the needs of specific job roles within large organisations.

The HSE is targeting LEV that do not effectively control exposure to emissions, as part of their disease reduction programme. This strategy involves encouraging health and safety managers to attend health and safety courses so they can gain a better knowledge of how to assess LEV.

Our LEV awareness training is devised to help you meet this objective. We provide two different course syllabuses that are designed to meet the specific needs of health and safety managers and maintenance engineers, dealing with the theory and practice of all aspects of LEV.

The course for health and safety managers focuses on helping them to identify the short falls in their LEV control measures.

The second syllabus for maintenance engineers has been devised as Workforce First recognises that in practice engineers are responsible for LEV once they are installed. The course for maintenance engineers concentrates on enabling them to improve the efficiency of their LEV.

The one-day course, costing £250 per delegate, is approved by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and provides a mixture of theory and hands-on practical training.

The course is led by Workforce First managing director Leila Kirk who has more than 20 years of experience providing expert occupational hygiene advice to businesses and is the West Midlands organiser for the British Occupational Hygiene Society.

Each course covers:

  • The health effects of exposure to contaminants
  • How airborne contaminants behave
  • Principles of ventilation systems and their components
  • Good LEV design, control and maintenance
  • Roles and legal responsibilities in providing LEV

Practical sessions cover:

  • Assessing LEV control effectiveness using a variety of visualisation techniques
  • Identifying weaknesses and improvements to a system
